Creative Technology

THINK COOL. CLEVER. CREATIVE.

There are very few children who aren't tech-savvy and adept at using all the gadgets on the market today. Most of these devices are a big part of everyday life. So at Techie Kids our Creative Tech workshops stimulate a child's creativity, bringing their words, the graphics they create, or music they love together, using technology. These workshops expose children to the following careers to encourage colorful, playful, "out-of-the-box" thinking.

Web and Graphics Design

Web designers make websites. Graphic designers create beautiful images. We show children the basics of both, allowing them to play with words and art to create their own website masterpieces.

Our web and graphics design workshops put emphasis on having an eye for color and detail, creative problem-solving techniques and communication skills. Kids will design and publish a website with the powerful yet user-friendly web editor Adobe Dreamweaver®, Adobe Flash®, Wacom® Pen Tablets and Adobe Photoshop®. Kids learn color theory, creative text effects and how to design customized graphics using Photoshop. Workshop facilitators also work with kids to combine words, symbols, and images to create a visual representation of their ideas and messages. Kids play with graphics for logos, publications, ads and product packaging.

Desktop Publishing

Techie Kids' facilitators are skilled at having fun. They work hard to ensure that each activity, within the desktop publishing workshop, captivates kids of all ages. Our facilitators show excited children just how easy it can be for them to prepare a publication. Desktop publishing workshop includes creative writing, page layout and logo design. This course of work is meant to peak a child's interest and to give them the basic skills necessary to create books, business cards, calendars, magazines, newsletters, and newspapers.

Kids get to create text and graphics, then combine them for publishing presentations.

Music Production

"ME" is the main focus of our music production workshops. Our "ME" Program recognizes each child's "Musical Efforts" as they learn how to develop their own unique sound while we help them master the music technology of today. Audio engineering is a skilled trade. It deals with the use of machinery and equipment for the recording, mixing and reproduction of sounds. An audio engineer is proficient with different types of recording media, such as analog tape, digital multi-track recorders and workstations, as well as computer knowledge. With the advent of the digital age, it is becoming more and more important for the audio engineer to be versed in the understanding of software and hardware integration from synchronization to analog to digital transfers.

Techie Kids' "ME" Production workshops give kids a basic crash course in this field. They encourage kids to embrace "the music within" to... "Create something meaningful, moving and representative of ME."
